Thanksgiving               and               Christmas               are               on               the               way               and               what's               one               of               the               number               one               things               we               associate               with               the               holidays?

Food,               of               course!

Unfortunately,               for               many               people               this               is               a               time               of               year               to               put               on               unwanted               pounds               or               to               worry               that               you               will               gain               weight               if               you               indulge               in               these               fabulous               holiday               dinners.

So               many               people               go               through               the               holidays               holding               back,               not               really               taking               time               to               allow               themselves               to               enjoy               the               great               food.

They               feel               guilty               when               they               do               and               they               guilt               trip               themselves               into               a               miserable               and               gloomy               holiday.

Others               let               it               all               go               and               eat               whatever               they               want               whenever               they               want               and               find               themselves               very               unhappy               and               uncomfortable               come               New               Year's.
               But               it               doesn't               have               to               be               this               way.

You               can               enjoy               holiday               food               without               worrying               about               your               weight               when               you               learn               to               follow               some               simple               steps.

Make               them               part               of               your               holiday               routine               and               you               don't               have               to               feel               guilty               about               that               gravy               on               your               turkey.
               What               are               some               ways               that               you               can               avoid               gaining               weight               during               the               holidays               without               spoiling               all               the               fun?
               -               Eat               smaller               portions.

Place               more               food               on               your               plate               at               one               time.

Then               you               can               try               a               little               of               everything               without               overeating.
               -               Don't               have               late               night               snacks.

Sure               that               turkey               tastes               great               reheated               but               don't               eat               more               right               before               bedtime.

Save               it               for               breakfast               instead.
               -               Go               for               walks.

Get               out               and               about,               take               a               walk,               play               some               football               in               the               backyard               or               anything               else               to               help               burn               off               some               of               those               extra               calories               you've               been               taking               in               from               holiday               food.
               -               Don't               starve               yourself               all               day               to               try               to               "save               up"               for               that               one               big               meal.

This               slows               your               metabolism               which               leads               to               weight               gain.

Go               ahead               and               spread               out               small               meals.
               -               Take               in               fewer               carbs               and               don't               eat               as               much               breads               during               your               holiday               meals.
               -               Cut               back               on               sugary               soft               drinks               and               teas               so               you               can               save               your               calories               for               the               good               stuff-               delicious               pumpkin               pie!
               -               Decide               if               there               are               some               foods               you               can               do               without               and               specific               ones               that               you               just               love               to               have.

You               don't               have               to               eat               some               of               every               single               thing               being               served.
               Don't               think               that               you               have               to               ruin               your               holidays               by               avoiding               all               family               or               friend               get-togethers.

Additionally,               don't               try               to               take               diet               pills               to               avoid               gaining               weight               during               the               holiday               season.

Sometimes               just               having               a               plan               can               help               you               avoid               adding               extra               pounds               while               still               staying               healthy               and               enjoying               the               holiday               foods.
               You               don't               have               to               "diet"               on               your               holiday               and               you               can               enjoy               all               the               great               foods               that               are               planned               for               your               meals.

You               shouldn't               have               to               sacrifice               during               this               fabulous               time.

Just               make               a               few               smart               choices               like               those               listed               above               and               you               can               have               your               cake               and               eat               it,               too!
